2017 Glass Slipper Wedding Show Exhibitor Feature: Isle + Oak Photography

Here we are welcoming another amazing vendor to the Glass Slipper Wedding Show this October, Isle + Oak Photography!  Take a look at their portfolio and get to know them here on our blog and at the show! We can’t wait…

Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you from visiting your website?

We are formally trained in contemporary fine art.  Some would call us the ‘black sheep’ of our art program for pursuing a career in commercial photography, but we like to think we are the lucky ones who get to spend their days documenting love.  We love love.

What inspired you to start your business?

Two things.  Firstly, our love for where we live.  BC is without question one of the most beautiful places in the world.  Our love of the west coast has more than inspired what we could call a film-like quality to our work, but also encourages us to take inspiration from our surroundings.  Secondly, a trip to Scotland.  We toured some incredibly beautiful sights including the Isle of Skye.  It was in the isle where we first discussed our venture into the world of wedding photography.  It will forever hold a place in our hearts.

What products/services do you offer?

Wedding Photography, Engagement Sessions, Family & Lifestyle Photography, Wedding Albums, Custom USB’s.

What other vendors do you absolutely love to work with?

Glass Slipper of course! We also have a very talented makeup artist friend, Makeup by Larissa. We have worked with a few talented florists, Flower Factory and Bridal Beginnings. For officiants we always love any one from Young Hip and Married, as well as Tracy and Brent from Hey Rev.  We recently photographed a wedding with a couple of talented videographers from I do Productions and we would highly recommend them to all our clients!

What is your most popular product/service?

Our most popular wedding package is an all inclusive, all day package. No time restrictions with two photographers all day long. Includes engagement session, digital images on a custom USB.

Where can people find your products/services?

Through our website, or send us an email for our package list at isleandoakphotography@gmail.com.  You can also find us on Weddingwire!

Any additional information brides should know about your product/services?

We have created packages that we feel provides for well rounded coverage; however, they are completely customizable.  We are happy to create a package that our clients feel best reflects their individual day,

What differentiates you from other people that provide the same service as you?

We believe wholeheartedly in the connection that we form with each and every one of our clients.  We are more than just photographers.  Its our bond with our clients that allows us to create the journalistic style of work that we strive to accomplish.

What is your favourite part about your job?

Getting to meet and get to know so many wonderful and fun couples. We love the personal part of the business, and we are all about making life long connections.

Name a favourite moment from a wedding you have been a part of.

Without question wedding photography has afforded us the opportunity to connect with so many new people.  We have met people from all walks of life, which is incredible.  However, every now and then we are afforded the opportunity to celebrate alongside friends – many of which have been by our sides for decades.  This past year we photographed a wedding for a lovely lady who has been in Sam’s life since preschool!  There is nothing more special than the honour of documenting her day.

In this industry, there isn’t much downtime.  When you are off, what do you like to do?

We love craft beer! We love exploring what the BC craft beer scene has to offer!  We have grandiose visions of one day having a hand in brewery operations to compliment our photography brand. – what better venue to host meetings and weddings?

We also love getting to spend quality time with our family and friends.

What are some tips you could offer brides when looking for vendors of your specific type of service/product?

Source a vendor that you connect with.  Wedding photography requires comfort.  The more you connect with your photographer, the more you will let your guard down and that will ultimately result in the most personal, candid and special photographs. Budget will always remain a factor, but you should select the vendors that you genuinely enjoy spending your time with.
