Colleen & Phillip met while Colleen was traveling in Australia. After Colleen traveled home, she told Phillip if he comes to Canada, not to come for her but for the experience… but of course, as any love story goes, he came for her. Four years later, they got engaged in Tofino and shortly after that I met Colleen and her mom at a wedding show. I instantly clicked with Colleen. She was so sweet and her soft spoken personally was just so nice to be around. She was going to school to be a graphic designer and had lots of creative ideas that I was excited to see come to life. When I met Phillip for the first time I clicked with him as well but in a different way because his hilarious Australian sense of humour was right up my alley! When they first told me that there ceremony was in a park in Langley, I was a little skeptical worrying it wouldn’t be private but they found this amazing spot that was completely secluded from people walking or driving by. It was perfect!
The park set the scene for what was an amazing day! The ceremony was beautiful and filled with lots of tears (mostly Phil). Cocktail hour following the ceremony was at the park as well and guests played lawn games like bocce and crochet while the bridal party snuck away for photos. The park was a great backdrop for amazing bridal photos like this shot below down by the creek.
The reception took place a few minutes away from the park at a beautiful old hall in Aldergrove called Coghlan Hall. This is where Colleen’s vision really came to life. All the details she had thought of and created came together for a reception that was completely personalized! She created moss wreaths which hung over the tables & moss centre table numbers. They used old vintage dishes for their buffet and Colleen and the bridesmaids made all the centrepieces themselves with fresh wildflowers. All the little details from their cake topper, to the vintage lamps, to the favours which were all photos taken by Phil, to the type writer which served as a guest book brought this wedding together. It was just perfect!
You could really feel the love in the summer air during this wedding! Their intimate guest list made for some beautiful moments shared during speeches, more tears (again mostly Phil) and lots of time to visit with family and friends, many who had travelled far to spend the day to celebrate this couple. At sunset they snuck away with their talented photographer, Andrea Ball and she captured some of my favourite shots of the wedding day, which are just stunning!
After a meeting in late July a week before their wedding, Colleen emailed me and said. “After we had left Williams Park on Sunday, Phil turned to me and said “meeting with Steph always makes me feel so much better about this all” and I could not agree more! ” Colleen & Phillip were just the sweetest to work with and I’m so happy to have been a part of their day and make it special and stress-free for them!
Wishing you both many more years of beautiful memories, laughter and *happy* tears together! XO
