5 Tips for Creating Your Wedding Day Timeline

Feeling a little stuck on how to organize your wedding day?  Well let us help you out!  There are so many things that need to be scheduled and accounted for on your day, and it is such a huge help to create a timeline.  The tips below are sure to help!

Tip #1- Use Google Docs or similar platform…

When choosing a platform to create your timeline, Google Docs is definitely our first choice.  You can easily create and share your timeline with whomever over Google.  Add in your mom, your wedding planner, or any vendors you want to have access to the timeline.  They can add in their contact information, and their time of arrival so there is no miscommunication.  The key piece, is that when everyone is working on it, adding things in, the timeline is always up to date.  As well, you don’t even need to print it off.  With Google Drive you can access your timeline anywhere like on your phone.

Tip #2- Start Your Timeline From Scratch…

A big mistake is to try and copy a timeline from the internet.  Your wedding is going to be different than Cindy’s from Ohio, so don’t try to follow her timeline that she has shared online.  Instead, try to find a blank template that you can use to start off and then make it all your own.  Click here to see a PDF of a blank timeline we want to provide to help you!  Most brides who are not hiring a coordinator will create the timeline themselves or work with key vendors like photographer and caterer to assist but most wedding planners will help to create a timeline for you… wink wink 😉

Tip #3- Distribute Your Timeline…

Make sure to give a copy of the finalized timeline to all your vendors, your VIP’s, like mom, bridesmaids, wedding planner, venue manager, etc, the week of the wedding.  If any last minute changes need to be made, change them on the Google Doc and then everything will always be up to date.

Tip #4- Give Yourself Enough Time…

When creating your timeline, give ample time for things like hair and makeup, transportation, toasts/speeches and for photos.  You have to remember these things can sometimes run a little long.  So try to plan for that.  If photogrpahy is important to you, ensure you are running your timeline by your photographer so they can tell you timing it will take for photos you want to capture, ei, bridal party, first look and family photos.  You may have a detailed schedule made for your day, but sometimes things can get off track, so be prepared and try to live with the moment and enjoy your special day!

Tip #5- Reach Out to Vendors…

Make sure to go through your contracts with vendors to verify what time they will be arriving and what requirements are needed for them when they arrive.  For example, if you are getting married at a hall, and your decorator expects the tables and chairs to be set up prior to them arriving, make sure you communicate to find out what your vendor may need or want.  Another important thing is to talk with your photographer and make sure you have the right timing for the photos you want.  Often enough, you will book the cheapest package for 8 hours, and because there is already so much going on in the day, you amy not get the photos taken you wanted.  So converse with your photographer to figure out what will be best for you. One more thing, and this is crucial, if you are getting your hair and makeup done, do not tell just tell the artist to come at 9am.  Talk with the artist so you know how long hair and makeup will take.  Otherwise you could be screwing yourself over for timing.

Sheena & Adam’s Wedding Day- August 12th, 2017

I was excited to work with Sheena & Adam because I knew they had booked with the talented Joanna Moss Photography who I love working with and always sends me great images after every wedding!

When I first met Sheena & Adam for coffee we really hit it off. I remember saying, you can take some time to think about your decision and Sheena just said, oh no we definitely don’t need time to decide, we want to book you.  Sheena knew she wanted help with the planning and styling especially because Adam would be away for work and only returning a few months before the wedding.

Sheena & Adam loved the look of Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club and so they decided to have their reception there. They also loved Golden Eagle Golf Course and the view of the mountains from the deck where the ceremonies took place so that is where they had their ceremony. There was one more reason for booking there but I’m saving that for later… 😉

Sheena started the day getting ready with her bridesmaids at home. She looked absolutely stunning! Jasmine Hoffman did a beautiful job with her hair and make-up. I also loved her long veil!

Sheena wanted a Tiffany blue theme wedding and I think we really pulled off this theme by making it come to life. Everything from her centrepieces, to her cake, and her bridesmaid’s dresses all tied in the Tiffany blue theme!

My favourite part of the day had to be the big ceremony surprise…Let me set the scene for you. All the guests were seated, the groom, groomsmen are waiting at the front and the bridesmaids are making their way down the aisle. Once the final bridesmaid reached the front, all the guests turn to look for the bride, but she isn’t there and then all of a sudden you can hear the sound of a propeller up in the sky, guests still are a bit confused and then realize it’s the bride as it lands on the greenway in the background of the ceremony. They all begin cheering as the bride and her dad unload and then make their way to the ceremony area and walk down the aisle. It was such a cool moment and one I’m sure the guests (and myself) won’t ever forget!

It was such a beautiful August day with perfect weather. Joanna Moss Photography has lots of fun with the couple capturing these gorgeous “smoke bomb” shots!

After dinner, Sheena & Adam were also able to sneak away for some one on one time and Joanna grabbed these fantastic shots of them on the hill with Westwood Plateau in the background.

It was such a pleasure to work with Sheena & Adam to plan their day! They were both so fun to work with and I’m so glad I could help bring Sheena’s Tiffany vision to life! Wishing you all the best in this next adventure!

Erin & Keith’s Wedding – September 16th, 2017

I’m excited to share these gorgeous photos from Angela of Blush Photography of Erin & Keith’s wedding this past September.
I met Erin in 2016 at our Glass Slipper Wedding Show. She had such a fun and bubbly personality. Over the course of the planning process, Erin was very hands on and put a lot of effort into all the wedding day details. I remember her telling me she was so happy that I was as “Type A” as her. The day before the wedding, she left me the cutest hand written notes with detailed instructions for finishing touches for the wedding day. (LOVED IT!)
I loved the colour scheme Erin chose! I love all the little red touches she incorporated including her gorgeous red hair.
We loved Erin’s hair & make up by Jamie Marie & Kelsey Dickson! And her dress with the detail on the back…wow! The She looked A-Mazing!
Her ceremony took place at the groom’s family’s property out in Abbotsford. The open field made for such a picture perfect back drop. I loved the vintage doors at the entrance to the ceremony and that her dad drove her drove in this bright red hot rod.
Erin & Keith incorporated the Scottish tradition of handfasting into their ceremony. It was a beautiful touch and of course, included pops of red.
The property was so spacious with lots of great areas for taking photos so the bridal party stayed on-site for photos while guests headed over to the reception.
The reception was just a five minute down the street from the ceremony at Jubilee Hall. Catering was done by our friends at Ritz Catering. After dinner, Erin & Keith were able to sneak out with Angela the photographer to grab a few more photos in the sunlight.  It’s hard to pick a favourite from these beautiful shots with the valley in the background! Wow!
When the newlyweds returned from photos, they cut the cake and hit the dance floor and the dance floor was busy all night including some special performances by these two cuties.
It was such a beautiful day to be a part of and I’m so happy we were able to make Erin’s vision come to life. The biggest compliment a planner can receive is knowing the bride who is just as Type A as her, is completely stress-free and enjoy the wedding day!
Congratulations again Erin & Keith! Wishing you both all the best!

6 Wedding Trends to Obsess Over in 2018

2018 looks to be an aesthetically pleasing year for wedding décor.  These 6 trends will have you drooling over copper tones, geometric shapes, blue hues, marble, oversized floral arrangements and rose gold.

Trend #1- Copper

If you are as into Moscow mules as I am, then I know how much you love the look of the copper mug.  I think this classic cocktail has inspired many to incorporate copper into their wedding this season.  Just look at how gorgeous it is next to these luxurious greens.  Very elegant and earthy.

Trend #2- Geometric Shapes

Intricate shapes and unique designs are all the rage for a modernized wedding this 2018 season.  From cake toppers, to centre pieces to sculptures, there are so many ways to add a little edge to your décor.  Take a look…

Trend #3- Blue Hues

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!  Add a subtle hint of blue to your décor on your wedding day.  It looks so beautiful with lush greens, and earthy tones.  Get some inspiration down below.

Trend #4- Marble

Ahhh yes.  Marble.  It is so pleasing to the eye and such a staple look.  If you want to add some modern elegance to your designs, then go with this trending metamorphic rock.  Marble brings such a minimalistic, clean, yet edgy look with its grey and white tones, soft sheen and irresistible style.  It started with marble wedding cakes and soon, we will see this trend blow up in the coming year.

Trend #5- Oversized Floral Arrangements

I feel as if floral bouquets used to be neat, tidy and all bunched up…  well that is a thing of the past!  Now, bouquets are becoming a little extra, and we do not mind.  In 2018, we will be seeing more and more gorgeous, oversized bouquets with not only beauty, but a big POP of style.

Trend #6- Rose Gold

Finally, our last trend we think you will go crazy for.  Rose gold.  It is surely a classic and we have seen it before in the past, but this trend isn’t going anywhere in 2018.  Take a look below for some rose gold inpso…

Wow… these trends make for some stunning wedding décor.  You can go with the marble and copper or even marble and rose gold together.  The geometric shapes can be used no matter what your colour scheme.  Get creative and think about your vision and what best suits you.

5 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away… and love is in the air as they say.  So, what will you and your significant other plan for this romantic day?  Well, don’t fret, here are 5 of the best date ideas we’ve come up with for you!

#1. Cook for your loved one…

Is your significant other a total foodie?  Well then what could be more special than to prepare a dinner just for them!  You could make their favourite meal, or something both of you like.  To add a nice romantic touch, end the dinner with a little dessert… maybe strawberries and chocolate or a little taste of you… 😉

#2. Go out and have some good old-fashioned fun…

These days, it can be hard to just relax and indulge in the simple things.  This Valentine’s Day channel your inner kid and go play!  If you’re a thrill seeking, fun-loving couple, hit the arcade, try out go karting, or for some adult only fun, try out a local shooting range.  You can never go wrong with a little ski-ball and air hockey.

#3. Romantic movie marathon…

If you and your honey are a couple of homebodies, then spending the night in cuddling on the couch with some yummy snacks would be so much fun!  Gather all the best blankets and junk food you can find and watch a romantic, or any genre, movie marathon!  Pick your guys’ fav movies and spend all night cuddled up.

#4. Try out a new restaurant…

If you two are the adventurous type, do a little research on some funky restaurants.  Get out there and try somewhere you both have never been!  It can be so fun and exciting.  Even if you hate it, it’ll become a great memory to look back on and share.

#5. Breakfast in bed…

Life can be busy.  If you and your loved one can’t quite get your schedules to line up for the night of V-Day, try doing a little breakfast in bed.  Nothing beats morning snuggles, coffee and some waffles with whipped cream.

Happy Valentine’s Day from everyone on the Glass Slipper Team.

xoxo
