Alex, a graphic designer & Will, owner of Honest Juice, were referred to me by past clients. We met for a coffee at one of my favourite spots, Luckys Donuts and immediately hit it off. I loved all Alex’s decor ideas and as they are both business owners, it was great talking with them both about starting a business and the various challenges and things you learn about yourself through that process.
Typically when you meet a couple and they share they are getting married in a backyard you think of a field, a tent and usually out in Langley or Abbotsford where their is lots of space but Alex & Will were lucky to have Alex’s aunt & uncle offer their gorgeous backyard in South Granville to host their wedding and it was the perfect space for their day.
In our initial consultation, I asked them to think about some key words to describe their day they both agreed on these: informal, family-style, lots of laughter, party and I think we nailed it!
Alex also envisioned a wedding day with boho accents like Persian rugs, globe lights, open-air dance floor and lots of greenery.
On the wedding day, Alex got ready at her parent’s house not too far from where the wedding took place. Alex & her dad drove in his vintage car.
The ceremony took place facing the garden and a beautiful tree. As they wanted the day to be informal, we only place out 50 guest chairs and the remaining guests lined the staircase and stood around cocktail tables at the back of the aisle. The talented Zaac Pick from Musos Entertainment played as the bridal party made their way down the aisle. Alex & Will shared personal vows and lots of laughter and tears. I absolutely loved the bridesmaids simple white dresses. The gorgeous bouquets from Granville Island Florist with greenery and pops of pink and orange were the perfect accent.
Their reception took place under the tent and was long tables with burlap runners and simple arrangements which Alex and the girls made. Cocktails & Canapes served an amazing family style meal! The speeches were heart felt with lots of laughter and tears. Friends performed a few songs for Alex & Will before the dance party got started under a dance floor decked out with string lights. One of my favourite personal touches was their wedding favours, after dancing the night away, guests left with a bottle of Will’s Honest Juice “Hangover Helper”.
It was so much fun working with Alex & Will to plan their big day and I was a bit sad when the day was over having to hug them goodbye. Wishing these two all the best and lots of love, laughter and happiness always!
